Get Married Magazine

Earlier this week Get Married made a big announcement! They will premier their first issue of a national magazine starting in October of 2009. This is great news for brides to be. You can watch Colin Cowie, celebrity event designer, and Deanna Pappas weekdays at 7:30 AM on Lifetime Television, and you can go to http://www.getmarried.com/ for planning tools and to find local resources right now. Starting in October you will have inspiration in a beautiful print form. Here is a mock magazine cover that Get Married released.
I don't know about you, but I am so excited about this wonderful news. Stay tuned in the coming months for more information about what is being called the new shopping and trend guide for the savvy bride.

Crystal Bouquet

Are you a non-traditional bride? Do you have flower allergies? If so, then I have a wonderful alternative to the traditional wedding floral bouquet. A crystal bouquet is a refreshing substitute from what we would normally see a bride carrying down the aisle.

Don't worry, the groom can wear a matching crystal boutonniere. You have the option to add feathers and ribbon to the bouquet like the first picture. You can also let the crystals stand alone like this picture. So, what do you think about the crystal bouquet idea?

Wedding Sand Ceremony

If you are looking for an alternative to the traditional lighting of the unity candles then try the sand ceremony. The sand ceremony has been going strong for the last couple of years. It is the mixing of the bride's sand and the groom's sand blending together as one. Once the two are united as one, it is impossible to separate them.
I have seen this ceremony done a couple time before by my couples and it is beautiful. Watching the two colors mixing together to make a new color is wonderful. Best of all, the bride and groom can keep the third container forever as a symbol of their love.

Hitched or Ditched

The CW premiers an interesting new wedding show called Hitched or Ditched on Tuesday May 26TH at 9:00PM. Tanya McQueen from Extreme Makeover Home Edition is the host of the show. It is being called the ultimate ultimatum. Long term couples are being nominated by a friend to appear on the show. They are given 7 days to decide whether to solve their problems and get married or call it quits for good.
The couple has just 7 days to pick out the dress, tell the parents, buy the ring, break the news to their friends, tell their exes, and buy the tux. Talk about pressure! Ever plan a wedding in a week? I believe William Shakespeare said it best when he wrote, "To be or not to be? That is the question."

Sliders

A wonderful way to make your wedding reception guests feel right at home is to serve comfort food. Don't want to serve food that your great aunt has never heard of? Then sliders are a mini version of the great sandwiches people love to eat.
These bite size burgers are just the right size for any wedding reception or event! After all, who doesn't love a great burger?

Blogging Bootcamp Atlanta

Yesterday, Nicole from Your Champagne Wishes Events, LLC marched off to bootcamp! Well not exactly marched, but I had the pleasure of attending Blogging Bootcamp and listening to Liene Stevens of The Smart Planner and Blue Orchid Designs speak.
I had a nice time learning from Liene and discussing strategy with some of the other Atlanta wedding professionals that attended. We listened, learned, had a couple break out sessions, lunched, and asked great questions.
Here is a picture of me and Liene after the conference.

Great Lawn Weddings

The Atlanta Botanical Garden is having their grand opening week full of wonderful events for their donors, members, and the general public. Along with the grand opening of the new Hardin Visitor Center and a 765 space parking deck, they are now offering brides and groom a new place to say, "I do."

You can now exchange your wedding vows on the Great Lawn. If you are a regular at the summer concert series at the Atlanta Botanical Garden then you know the Great Lawn as the place where thousands of concert goers relax on blankets or folding chairs while enjoying the live bands. Now this wide open space is available to use for weddings. Just in time for wedding season '09.
