I Do Over Premiere

Back in July, I was delighted to be invited to Diann Valentine's I Do Over Premiere and Sneak Peek at The Biltmore Ballrooms in Atlanta. I Do Over finally premiers Sunday on We TV. So I wanted to show you pictures from the great party.
This is the breathtaking pink wall that lined the hallway before we entered the ballroom. Notice the flowers in the shadow boxes.

This is a great long shot of the beautiful room set up.

This is the stage and televisions where we were able to hear from the lady of the hour, Diann Valentine and be the first ones to see the premiere episode of the show.

Last but not least, this is Diann posing in her gorgeous gown in front of the We Tv wall.

I can't wait until Sunday night!

Real Housewives of Atlanta Season Finale

If you are a fan of the Real Housewives of Atlanta like I am, I'm sure that you were glued to your TV on Sunday night for the season finale. We watched in anticipation all season as Cynthia planned her wedding to Peter. I'll admit, there were quite a few times when I wondered why she didn't just hire a wedding planner.
Some brides think that they don't need to hire a wedding planner because their wedding venue has a site manager, the catering company has a banquet captain or they have a wonderful friend with style who will help out. Wrong!
Living in Atlanta myself, I know that we have a lot of wonderful vendors in this city. We all play an important part in assisting you plan and execute one of the most important days of your life.
Your full service wedding planner's job is to help you put all the pieces of your wedding together during the planning stages, wedding rehearsal, and the big day. We are there every step of the way sharing our knowledge and experience with you. Your wedding planner helps you stay organized, refer you to vendors, negotiate so that you get what you want at a price that you can afford, show you ways to cut costs, work with your vendors, as well as manages all of the details on your special day so that you can relax and enjoy it!
After all, this is a one-time thing for you, we do this for a living. We are armed with checklists and time lines....and we are not afraid to use them! So ask yourself, how do you want to spend your wedding day?

David Tutera & Diann Valentine

Over the past few weeks I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet two very talented wedding and event designers while they were in Atlanta. To say they are only designer would be an understatement though, because they are each accomplished authors and television personalities.

First up in September was David Tutera who spoke to his audience at Che'ne Rouge about creating a wedding with personal style. He also talked to us about his TV show My Fair Wedding. It was great seeing pictures from his many past events and hearing funny stories about upcoming episodes of his show.

Last weekend it was Diann Valentine. One thing I noticed about her was that she never stopped smiling. Anyone near her could see how excited she was about what she does for a living. She gave the crowd great entertaining tips and told us about some of her celebrity clients such as Usher and Toni Braxton.

It was wonderful meeting two people that I really admire. They gave us a chance to ask as many questions as we liked and it was fun taking pictures with them.

David shared exciting news about his wedding gown collection and Diann showed us samples from her invitation collection. I can't wait to see what they each have planned next!

Four Weddings on TLC

We all know that there are a lot of wedding shows on TV now. One show that I like watching is called Four Weddings. A new season premiers on TLC this Fridays at 10 PM. Four Weddings is a show where 4 brides compete by judging each other's weddings based on major details such as the venue, dress, food, originality, and overall guest experience. The bride that scores the most wins a four star honeymoon.
One of the reasons that I like watching the show is because I like hearing each bride's difference perceptions. It's very interesting to me how everyone can be at the same wedding and have totally difference impressions. Sometimes the wedding that I liked the best wins and sometimes I am disappointed at the outcome, but that's another reason that I like the show.

Hitched or Ditched

The CW premiers an interesting new wedding show called Hitched or Ditched on Tuesday May 26TH at 9:00PM. Tanya McQueen from Extreme Makeover Home Edition is the host of the show. It is being called the ultimate ultimatum. Long term couples are being nominated by a friend to appear on the show. They are given 7 days to decide whether to solve their problems and get married or call it quits for good.
The couple has just 7 days to pick out the dress, tell the parents, buy the ring, break the news to their friends, tell their exes, and buy the tux. Talk about pressure! Ever plan a wedding in a week? I believe William Shakespeare said it best when he wrote, "To be or not to be? That is the question."

The Real Housewives of New Jersey

I just finished watching the sneak peak of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. I will confess that I do not like too much drama in my own life, but I love watching it on television! So I am enjoying the first few minutes of the show when I realize that one of these friends, sisters, and sister-in-laws is a caterer and one is an event planner. Then I hear that one of the ladies has been engaged 19 times before she finally said yes to Mr. Number 20! Engaged 20 times?
The Real Housewives of New Jersey premiers on Bravo on Tuesday May 12TH. I am very interested in seeing how Season 1 of this series evolves. It should be interesting. What do you think?

Rock The Reception

I am sure that everyone has seen a You Tube clip of a bride and groom surprising their wedding guests with a choreographed first dance. The routines range from cute to hilarious. But the reception guests are always shocked. Many of them have to pick up their dropped jaw from the floor. While other jump up from their seats to get a better look at the musical production.
With the popularity of this wedding trend over the last two years, TLC created the show Rock The Reception. Tabitha and Napolean D'umo best known for So You Think You Can Dance are the stars of the show. The two well known choreographers and dance instructors have been married to each other for ten years and work well together. On the show, the couple team up to teach the bride, groom and their wedding party a crash course dance routine that they must muster up the nerve to perform in front of their wedding guests.
A few months ago, I received an email asking if I had any couples interested in being on a TV show about entertaining first dances. I asked my most courageous bride if she had thought about doing a first dance that was a little different and she quickly shook her head no.
So what do you think? Do you think a couple's first dance as husband and wife should be a special moment spent gazing into each other's eyes? While today's newlyweds may not do the traditional waltz, they do spend time deciding what love song to do their dance to. Would you be brave enough to pick out a fast song and rock your reception?
