Jumping the Broom

What happens when a down home groom and an upscale bride's family meet at their wedding? According to the Jumping the Broom trailer, hilarious chaos. The T.D. Jakes production starring Paula Patton, Laz Alonzo, Angela Bassett,Loretta Devine, and a cast of other great actors and actresses opens Mother's Day 2011. I think that I will be first in line in Atlanta!
FYI, jumping the broom is slave tradition done at the end of their wedding ceremony. The newlywed that jumps the highest is said to run the house.

Our Family Wedding

Is it true that when you marry someone that you marry their family? If so, Lucia and Marcus maybe in some trouble because of their meddling dads in Our Family Wedding. Not to mention Lucia's mom who is planning the wedding of "her" dreams.
Lance Gross and America Ferrera star as the loving engaged couple and Forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia star as their dads. The cast also include Regina King and Diana Maria Riva. I love these stars, great wedding movies, and look forward to seeing this movie when it is released March 12, 2010.

The Proposal

Let's face it. Every woman dreams of how the love of her life will propose to her. We want it to be a surprise, also romantic, and very sincere. But life doesn't always give us what we want.
There is a new movie called The Proposal staring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. The movie is being released in theaters June 19Th. It is a comedy about a pushy executive that bribes her assistant to marry her so that she will not lose her job and be deported back to Canada. Her assistant, played by Ryan Reynolds agrees to play along under a few conditions. The couple head off to spend time with his family. One crazy situation after another and the two begin to look at each other a little differently.
The situation in the movie The Proposal is not the typical way that most people become engage. So how did your mate propose to you?

Ghost of Girlfriends Past

It is time for another wedding movie. Well sort of. Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner star in Ghost of Girlfriends Past. McConaughey stars as a very single celebrity photographer who cares nothing about love and romance. His brother Paul is about to get married though. So three ghosts visit him and show him his past, present, and future complete with all of his former girlfriends. They visit him to try and help him find out why he has given up on love so that he will not completely ruin his brother's wedding.
New Line Cinema releases this hilarious PG-13 rated movie this Friday May 1ST. With wedding season underway, I wonder how many very single family members of engaged couples need to run and go see this movie. For more info visit here.

Bride Wars

This Friday the new movie Bride Wars is being released. It stars Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway as two newly engaged best friends. The problems begin because of a feud over their perfect venue on the same date.
This leads me to remind brides-to-be about the importance of starting your wedding planning early with a wedding planner. Selecting a date and the best venue for you are some of the first decisions that you will make. So you have to choose wisely. While a venue making a clerical error in a movie might be hilarious, in real life it wouldn't be so funny. Hiring a professional wedding planner to help you negotiate and make very important choices is the best decision you can make for your wedding.
Candice Bergen plays "the queen of all wedding planners" in this movie. We will just have to go see the movie to find out if she lives up to her reputation or not.

Bag Borrow or Steal

Okay. I have a confessions to make. On May 30, 2008 while many of you were standing in long lines anxiously waiting to get inside the movie theater to see Sex and the City, I was scratching my head wondering what all the fuss was about. I usually choose to wait until a movie comes out on DVD to see it. Watching a movie with my feet kicked up on my ottoman, eating popcorn and M&Ms from the comfort of my own home is the best.

In honor of Sex and the City's release on DVD this week, I decided to write about Bag Borrow or Steal. Many of you know that Sarah Jessica Parker's character was impressed by her new assistant's sense of style and was curious how she could afford all of her designer accessories. That's when Jennifer Hudson's character explained how she rented them!

It is no secret that men have been renting their tuxedos and accessories for their wedding day attire for years. So what do you think about women renting for their wedding day accessories?

Take a look at these Tiffany & Co. 8.2 carat diamond earrings. Do you think that you could afford these for your wedding day? What if I told you that you could rent them for a week for $213? Could you afford them now? Just a little something to think about.
