David Tutera & Diann Valentine

Over the past few weeks I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet two very talented wedding and event designers while they were in Atlanta. To say they are only designer would be an understatement though, because they are each accomplished authors and television personalities.

First up in September was David Tutera who spoke to his audience at Che'ne Rouge about creating a wedding with personal style. He also talked to us about his TV show My Fair Wedding. It was great seeing pictures from his many past events and hearing funny stories about upcoming episodes of his show.

Last weekend it was Diann Valentine. One thing I noticed about her was that she never stopped smiling. Anyone near her could see how excited she was about what she does for a living. She gave the crowd great entertaining tips and told us about some of her celebrity clients such as Usher and Toni Braxton.

It was wonderful meeting two people that I really admire. They gave us a chance to ask as many questions as we liked and it was fun taking pictures with them.

David shared exciting news about his wedding gown collection and Diann showed us samples from her invitation collection. I can't wait to see what they each have planned next!

Planning a Green Wedding?

Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22ND. This tradition was started by peace activist John McConnell in 1969. So in honor of today being Earth Day, I wanted to write a post about green weddings. The Green Bride Guide is a great book that helps brides plan an environmentally friendly wedding complete with pictures and stories. Kate Harrison boasts that her book has everything you need to know to plan a green wedding. So if you are a bride or family member concerned about our environment and you want to incorporate that in the wedding, then visit The Green Bride Guide.

The Daughter-in-Law Rules

I found an adorable book that I wanted to tell everyone about. The book is called The Daughter-in-Law Rules. Sally Shields gives her readers 101 tips to manage or even make friends with their mother-in-law. Let's face it ladies, some of us can use all the help we can get in this department.

Sally reminds us in a humorous way that mother-in-laws are women with feelings and want the same thing that most women want. So what do we want? I think, all of us want to be loved, appreciated, respected, and needed.

The rules vary from common sense tips that I admit I should do more of, to advice I really need to sit down and decide if I am woman enough to take on! LOL.

Let's be realistic. As much as we may think we are marrying the man and not his entire family, unless you plan to move to Mars with him, you have just gained a new Mom. How you choose to deal with it is totally up to you.
