Q: Why do I need a wedding planner if my reception site has a site manager?
A: A site manager represents the facility. Your wedding planner has your best interest at heart and represents you. In the months leading to your wedding, the facility manager will not attend vendor appointments with you such as visits to the florist, bakery, photographer's studio, and bridal salon. The site manager will not give you etiquette advice, help you stay in budget or negotiate contracts for you.
On your wedding day, the site manager also has other duties to handle such as supervising your bartenders, maintaining safe and clean surroundings, and security issues. They may not be able to cater to you personally as much as you would need them to. Your wedding planner will be there to assist you personally, follow the time line, direct the ceremony and reception activities, handle your decor, troubleshoot, and make sure your vision becomes a reality.
Your wedding planner knows you personally and has been working with you for months on big issues and all of the small details. She knows what you want and don't want to happen. Everyone has a role and plays an important part in making your wedding day a success. Your wedding planner is there for you so that you can relax and enjoy your big day with the ones you love!

Hi Nicole - love your blog! :) Leslie
Excellent post!! I get this question a lot from brides who are working with a very tight budget. The first thing they want to cut out of their budget is the planner.
